Principal photography of the film is complete and the post production stage is underway. It has been confirmed by the director, Rian Johnson that Episode VIII will begin immediately where The Force Awakens left off with Rey reaching out to Luke. AND YES, there will be an opening crawl as was confirmed by Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy. Sadly this will be the last film for Carrie Fisher in the role of Leia Organa, due to her recent death. She was believed to be a major character in Episode VIII, so the future of that character in unknown as this time. However, no official confirmation of how this will effect or alter Episode VIII has been given thus far.
