After last weeks reveal of the official Rogue One trailer, all the scruffy nerfherders here at Honor The Force have been in an uproar. One topic of conversation is just how badass will Donnie Yen be as Rogue One's resident force believer. Listed below are just a few reasons why we think Donnie Yen's Chirrup Îmwe just may be the most badass Star Wars character ever portrayed.

  • Donnie Yen began his career in Chinese cinema as a stuntman in 1983’s Shaolin Drunkard.

  • His breakthrough role came by way of a fight scene with Jet Li in 1992’s Once upon a Time in China II. Yen and Li shared the screen again in the 2002 film, Hero.

  • Yen has been highly regarded as a fight choreographer for many films including: Blade II, Shanghai Knights, and Highlander: Endgame. In China, he choreographs almost all of the films that he appears in.

  • Yen passed on the opportunity to appear in the Expendables 2, but is no stranger to american action blockbusters as he will star as the antagonist in the upcoming XXX: Return of Xander Cage.

  • Described as a mixed martial artist; Yen holds a 6th degree black belt in Tae kwon do, a black belt in Judo, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and has won gold in Wushu competitions.

  • During his younger days, Yen reportedly hospitalized eight gang members as result of an altercation at a nightclub.

  • Donnie Yen has won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Action Choreography on four occasions, which is a record in itself.
